Autism in the media
For some serendipitous reason, I’ve come across a number of features on autism in the media. Many of them have been relatively inspiring and some — life-changing. Last week, I wrote about an ABC News article about a girl who wrote about the struggles and realities of being autistic. This week, I’m proud to feature two articles about A. M. Baggs, a young woman with autism who has posted an incredible video.
This video not only changed the way I view autism, but also raises some interesting questions about the social nature of communication — as well as the social construction of reality. Are people with autism out of touch with reality, or are they taking a different approach to reality?

Larry King did a special about autism on Valentine’s Day that re-aired this week.
